Reports emanating today from Giwa Local Government Area in Kaduna State indicate that the Executive Committee of the local government council under the leadership of the Speaker of the Giwa Local Government Council’s Assemby, Hon. Abdullahi Isma’il, have suspended the Deputy Chairman of the local government area, Hon. Zubairu Alhassan, over alleged charges of betrayal of trust and disclosing official government secrets as well as disrespecting the legislature, acts that are deemed as going against the law.

The council made the announcement after its weekly sitting, during a press briefing with journalists, whereby it showed the suspension approval letter signed by seven out of eleven local government councillors of the local government council.
One of the councillors, who is the Majority Leader in the State’s House of Assembly, Hon. Hayatu Mu’azu Dallatu, stated that the House has suspended the Deputy Chairman for a period of six months pending the completion of an investigation.
When newsmen sought the response of Hon. Zubairu Alhassan, about his suspension, the Deputy Chairman said he only heard it as heresay. He, however, stated that the law will take its due course.
